Stay

Tucked away in a small Sussex village overlooking the South Downs ‘The Dairy’ and the ‘Shepherd’s Hut’ provide a calm and rural retreat, they are available individually or as a whole on a self-catering basis.

The Dairy

Within the curtilage of a restored medieval barn ‘The Dairy’ is a picturesque self-catering holiday cottage in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Surrounded by Sussex countryside it is close to Glyndebourne Opera, 7 miles from Lewes, 10 miles from Brighton and an hour’s journey from London. ‘The Dairy’ features on ‘Alistair Sawday’s Special Places to Stay’.

The Shepherd’s Hut

Authentically-built and simply equipped, the ‘Shepherd’s Hut’ is available to book in the warmer months - and can also serve as an extra bedroom for additional guests staying at ‘The Dairy’. It is ideal for all those adventurous-at-heart and seeking a ‘get away from it all’ experience!

What Guests Are Saying

“We have stayed in many different self-catering cottages over the years, but this is our favourite! We’ve been so comfortable and happy in the beautifully appointed ‘Dairy’ - and thank you for the foodie extras, which made a lovely welcome. We plan to return!”

— Michael & Cecile

“What a magical place! From walking through the front door we felt it a home away from home, surrounded by the luscious South Downs, not to mention the garden on our very doorstep. And needless to say the quality of craftsmanship, attention to detail and consideration of what’s needed from kitchen cookware to whiskey glasses have been relished!”

— Susan & Chris

“Our stay in the beautiful old ‘Dairy’ has been just the tonic we needed as we come out of lockdown. The peace and tranquility has done us both the world of good. Beautiful towns and villages on the doorstep… fantastic walks in every direction… also excellent pubs locally… we will go home relaxed and refreshed with lots of happy memories.”
